As you probably know people from USA and other countries celebrate Valentine's Day on February 14th. In our country we have "Día del Amor y la Amistad" that is on September. Nowadays, some people here in Colombia celebrate both days!

I think that the beginning of saint valentines day tradition is pretty nice and i never knew that this day have this kind of a story, I'm not much a believer of this kind of celebration because i really think that, the true reason for this celebration has been lost for all the materialism made for the companies that only want to make profit, but i also believe that we don't need to have an special day to be kind with the persons we love.

hi teacher, this topic is very romantic and interesting, when the love arrives to our heart, our days are amazing; the sun, shine over our live and we have forces to fly to our dreams, in the Valentine´s Day we can see the world around us in a different and positive form.
the true love is imposible to describe, is spiritual and sublime, you can not touch, only you can feel it.
but not all is rose color, in te valentine`s day, other people cry and they says: "oh my God, i am nothing, i am a poor devil, my live is in a garbage" this is a terrible depressive case, but that is the cruel true.
other problem about the valentine´s day, it´s in the money, yes is really, think about this:
if you arrive to your girlfriend´s house in the valentine´s day, you decided to buy to her, some chocolates, roses and a puppy. she says "oh my wonderfull boyfriend, i love you, i need you, you are all for me", and after a seconds, she gives you nothing. the question of the million dollars is... how you feel then?, ¡oh yeah! where was the love?
the valentines´s day is a day where the money es the king. jejejejeje

San Valentine's Day is a special date of some countries, but in Colombian many people has celebrated this date during last years. I don't like celebrate this date because I think we already have our special date in September. I celebrate this date without buy gifts, not because I don't like giving gifts, I do because exist many ways most significant of telling you love at that special person.
I hope someday we can all show our feelings without giving material gifts

I do not think at this time. These dates usually have many contrasts. Such as Christmas, Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc.. But when people do not have their loved ones around you feel a great emptiness.
However, it is an opportunity for daring to tell the other that you love and that is important to you. I believe in love and so much, I think it changes our lives, makes us smile and sigh at every moment .......
Valentine´s day is an important date in many countries and for many people around the world... but, I think... the love is an universal feeling, you can feel it every day of your life if that's your choice, because love is the engine of life, everything we are and everything that surrounds us is pure love.
And to show that you love a person or estimates and appreciate another ones, no need to wait for an especially day, you can do that every day of your life if you want, every day in your life can be a manifestation of love, any day can be special only with a smile, a hug, a caress, any day is good to express feelings and tell those around us as we love them.
For me, Valentine´s day is just a commercial date... there are people behind every detail, which is enriched from what should be a way of life because every person living in this world should be able to express their feelings openly every day of their lives, not just one day a year.
Every day is unique, every day is special, every day is a perfect opportunity to say how much you love your loved ones without spending money on expensive gifts.

Today in some countries of the world they celebrate this wonderful day where love is the main feeling between family, friends and couples. A day to express all feelings to an important person, from a word, a flower, a card to a smallest detail. The main purpose is to share with the rest of the people.
If all of us celebrate this day the tradition will continue and it will help us to put aside materialism and give priority to our feelings.

Well, the Valentine´s Day is a very important day for those that are falling in love around the world. I dont knew the legends about this day and I think that those legends are true if we look them from the point of view that got written in ancient times and expressed everything that lived or experienced.
I think Valentine's Day is another day of many that mankind has created as special. For we are very sensitive and need to express them. In addition, we have a very strong feeling that is love.
So we have two great ideas which mix to create these days so important. But that's not all, business has picked to win more money. However, it is important that we do something special to the people we (parents, children, siblings, classmates, our love.) Expressing our feelings is very important, so I think we should do every day. Special days are a reminder that we must always be aware of people around us.

hi teacher lina, for americans valentine´s days is a very special day i think similar as christmas season in comparison with colombian people the celebrate of amor y amistad is limited only dancing a drink whit all frinds and the rouses and chocolates not are important, we less romantic in this topic. see you next class.

I like so much this video because I dón´t know the realy history, I thought that this day was only commercial who is it in Colombia. I like the first legend or I like belive in this legend because it´s more loving. Personally I write to my husband many notes of love, althougt it 21 years together. I think these things are what make that lasting relationships are really. I love the chocolates and the flowers, the pink flowers but sometimes I don´t no have a sweet heart, ja ja.I don´t like the Claudio II Emperador. He never was in love .
I have a dog and I never give it chocolates but she loves the chocolates.
